Report of the SEZ Summer Picnic 2009
On 4 Shabaan-al-Karim 1430H (26 July 2009) SEZ London held their annual summer family picnic. This year the event took place in the beautiful setting of Gunnersbury Park and was attended by 22 members including their grandparents, parents, wives, siblings and children. The age range spanned from 1 to over 70 years, with a total of 50 adults and 30 children enjoying the day out.
The picnic lunch comprised of Subway platters, spicy masala bateta, desserts, tea, drinks and other snacks.
Activities were organised for all ages groups. There was volleyball, where the men played some friendly but fiercely competitive games. The women organised games with dodgeball proving very popular. Tennis was also played with some good match-ups between Toloba and Shabab age groups, whilst frisbee, netball, kite flying and other games were hosted so that everyone could take part in something. Children were entertained by the activities within the park’s large play area and had fun feeding the ducks.
Others went for a long walk past the lake and through the beautiful grounds of the park, which also houses the Gunnersbury Park Museum.
Overall the event was a resounding success, with all participants, young and old, having an enjoyable day. Even with the typical British summer weather — cloudy with light rain!
